Kano — The Jigawa House of Assembly has declared that it has no plans to probe the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki.

Addressing newsmen in Kano , the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon Yahaya Muhammad stated that the 30-man Assembly had never nursed the idea in any of its plenary sessions.

The reaction by the Assembly came on the heels of media reports that the lawmakers have concluded arrangements to probe three key parastatals between 2000-2003 when Senator Turaki was state governor.

Hon. Yahaya Muhammad alleged that the purported probe was created by a section of the media to cause disaffection between the house and the former governor, saying the House in one of its plenary sessions adopted a unanimous resolution to look into the activities of some of key parastatals vital to the agricultural sector.

He noted that the move by the House was informed by a change in policy direction of the Lamido-led administration towards rejuvenating the agricultural sector and restoring confidence in the populace that are mainly farmers.

Hon Yahaya Muhammad revealed that similar exercise had been carried out by the House on the education sector, stressing that the essence is to avoid the pitfall of previous experience where millions of naira sunk on such areas failed to yield desired returns.

"We desired a new thinking that guide us against the mistake of sinking tax payers money on a particular sector without commiserate returns. We had carried similar exercise on education, and intend to extend same to agric sector in view of its importance to our agrarian society", Muhammad explains.

He posited that the 5th Jigawa Assembly is offering a complementary role in tandem with the policy thrust of the new administration adding that the House would not embark on an exercise that would sabotage the patriotic effort.

The Deputy Majority Leader advise the media to be wary of unscrupulous politicians that are hell bent to thwart the progressive effort of the new administration .

Hon Yahaya Muhammad called on Jigawa patriot to contribute their quota in the quest to make Jigawa compete among its peers in the federation.
