Lobatse Magistrate, Goabaone Rrammapudi denied granting bail to four men accused of murdering an Ntlhantlhe man. The accused, Agisanang Motukwa, Daniel Sime, Gaolathe Thusang and Moise Sekai were brought before court for killing Mothankana Joshua Motukwa of Ntlhantlhe Village in October this year.
The first accused, Agisanang Motukwa, is the son of the deceased. The court heard that the three other accused told police during the investigations that deceased's son persuaded them to kill his father so he could access his father's insurance monies from Botswana Life Insurance.
Though the four accused pleaded with the magistrate to grant them bail, Rrammapudi refused, saying the nature of the offence was too great to do that. She advised them to apply for bail with the High Court after trial date has been set for the case at the high court. The case continues on the December 29.
The deceased's son pleaded to be bailed so he could with family during this mourning period. He told the court that he was still shocked by his father's death. This is despite other accused, allegedly having insisted in their confessions that Agisanang Motukwa did not only motivate for his father's killing, but was present when they strangled him to death.
