It was a fruitful 2008 for traditional music queen, Olebile 'Maxy' Sedumedi, after recording two successful albums this year.
Maxy followed up her August release, Re Batswana, with a Christmas release, Digauta, a group she formed with her two dancers, Shinny Chubi and Mpho Selao.
Maxy says both projects are doing extremely well.
"It looks like my projects keep on outdoing each other. The two albums have been well-received by the market. I am absolutely delighted."
Maxy says she is even happier because with Digauta, she did a very different project. "It was a departure from traditional music. Here is a mixture of wedding songs, 70's South African pop and gospel. I am happy that the response has been so good. Next year I am releasing a disco album. I am busy doing the material for that release as I'm speaking".
"I can only promise new and exciting things for the fans. I keep on doing new stuff that people like. I have no time for monotony," said Maxy. Last year she released three projects, a DVD, a compilation CD and a new album, Cherikwa, which are also doing well.
Maxy has formed her own recording stable, Maxy Investments, which handles both the marketing and distribution of her records. It is only this year though that the Maxy Investments released an album other than Maxy's.
