Asmara — Various development programs worth over 30 million Nakfa have been implemented this year in Mai-Aini sub-zone, according to Mr. Russom Kiflemariam, Administrator of the sub-zone.
He indicated that a hospital is under construction in Mai-Aini at an expenditure of over 12 million Nakfa, besides the construction of a bridge on a river in the Habenat and Mai-Aini semi-urban center which used to cause transport problem for a long time. Encouraging soil and water conservation activities have also been carried out in Adi-Gode and Koatit administrative areas, he added.
Mr. Russom further pointed out that a micro-dam with a capacity of holding about 1.5 million cubic meters of water is being constructed in Una-Foreon and that the necessary preparations have been made to construct another micro-dam with a capacity of holding over 700, 000 cubic meter of water in Sesewe that would facilitate irrigation farming in the locality.
Noting that potable water supply projects are being implemented in the villages of Kinafina, Adi-Segogu and Adi-Samra, he indicated that a well-drilling facility has been put in place in Ser'e, while there are plans to dig wells in Habenat and Hadas Agula'e, as part of efforts to ease potable water supply problem in the sub-zone.
