The Secretary of the Gwagwalada Area Council has assured that sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and other transmitted disease s are not peculiar to Dobi community in the area Council. Alhaji Usman Yahaya disclosed this in Gwagwalada while reacting to a recent medical findings by t he FCT chapter of Medical Womens Association of Nigeria(NMWAN) that Dobi women are suffering from various kinds of diseases including sexually transmitted diseases.
He said since the assumption of the administration, STD's, malaria and ante-natal care are rendered free of charge to women in various government hospitals across the council.He noted that for the past one and half year, the present administration has constructed eight clinics with modern facilities in the council.Yahaya maintained that sexually transmitted diseases and other types of diseases are dominant in other societies especially in an over populated environment with different kinds of social life.He said such diseases are prevalent in cities compared to rural communities, adding that Dobi stands as one of the best communities with adequate health care facilities.NMWAN members visited the community to carry out free screening tests on women with cancer and the tests revealed that most women suffer from various diseases due to poor quality health care.Yahaya said the council can boast that over 5000 inhabitants have access to adequate health care facilities."With the modern facilities installed in Dobi clinic, we handed it over to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital as a training centre for medical students in the institution, he added.
