For the third year running, Zenith Bank Plc has won two major awards for outstanding performance at the Clearing House, again confirming the bank's leadership in the use of cutting edge information and communication technology (ICT) to deliver first rate banking service.
The awards, for 'Error Free Transmission of Clearing Data' and 'Punctuality' were handed out to the bank over the weekend at an event jointly organized by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Inter Bank Settlement System (NIBSS).
All the 24 banks operating in the Lagos Bankers Clearing House of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) were considered for the award, with Zenith again proving its superiority in the timeliness and reliability of its returns to the Clearing House.
Zenith had won the two awards in the 2006 year after it was reintroduced, a feat that was repeated in the 2007. The two well regarded awards are coveted by all the banks in the Clearing House as they represent a testimony to the winning bank's culture of service excellence.
In the error free category, Access Bank and GTBank came second and third respectively while Ecobank and Sterling Bank were runners up in the punctuality category.
Zenith Bank Plc is one of the biggest and most profitable banks in the country with gross earnings of N208.29 billion for the financial year ending September 2008, up by a remarkable 120 per cent over the N94.88 billion recorded last year.
