A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Kapital Merit Club, has called for a proper legislation that will effectively cater for the welfare of orphans and the less privilege in the country.

Club President, Engr. Wale Olaleye, recently stated this, while presenting food items to an Orphanage called 'The Poorest of the Poor Anawim Home' at Gwagwalada, in the Federal Capital Territory.

Members of the NGO visited the home as part of the club's activities to mark its end of year celebration.

Olaleye, while expressing concern on the state of the nation's economy, said everything must be done to alleviate the sufferings of orphans and less privileged in the society.

The president noted that if necessary constitutional backing is put in place, it will go a long way in uplifting the living standard of the needy in the country.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to complement the efforts of government in providing assistance to the less privileged in their various communities.

Mr Olaleye stated that the club decided to provide items to 'The Poorest of the Poor Anawim Home' in order to put smiles in faces of those that reside there, during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Also speaking, a member of the club, Mr J.O Ajayi, described Christmas season as a period to show love to everybody, especially the less privileged in the society.

He appealed to well meaning Christians to extend their hands of love to their neighbours in order to make the celebration a worthy one.

Receiving the food items, the coordinator of the home, Rev. Sister Oresoa, commended the Kapital Merit Club for the gesture and urged other associations to emulate them.

She said a lot needs to be done in order to alleviate the plight of orphans and the less privilege that are scattered all over the country.
