Rennes reject suggestions that they are on the verge of signing Ivorian Aruna Dindane to replace Ghana's Asamoah Gyan next month.
The 23-year-old joined the club at the start of the season from Italian club Udinese for US$12m but has played a bit-part role in their impressive showing because of injuries.
His inactivity prompted speculation that Dindane would be bought to replace Gyan but Rennes insist the Ghanaian has a future at the club.
"We have not made a bid for Aruna Dindane. At the present time we do not forecast any transfers in Rennes during January," Rennes general manager Pierre Dréossi said.
"Our first recruit in attack will be Asamoah Gyan, who has barely played a game since the beginning of the season but scored a goal against Lorient in the final match before the break.
"He is a player we bought for US$12m yet we are third in the league having been without him 95% of the time."
Rennes have been remarkable so far this season as they charged to a 17 game unbeaten run prior to the Christmas break.
