Asmara — The Minister of Justice, Ms. Fawzia Hashim, said that the Ministry is striving to render speedy and efficient service to the public and promote social stability.
She indicated that the Ministry's main mission is to provide efficient and fair administration of justice that ensures stability, unity and equal participation on the basis of the society's cherished values. Noting that the proclamations issued on various occasions have been well scrutinized so as to effectively serve the society, Ms. Fawzia pointed out that vigorous endeavors are being made to relate basic laws to the task of preserving the values of the society and ensuring discipline, as well as guaranteeing socio-economic stability. She went on to say that over 500,000 legal cases have reached legal conclusion in the courts since the achievement of independence.
Ms. Fawzia stressed the achievements scored in human resource development and stated that training is being offered to legal experts in other fields of study and technology so as to enable them effectively accomplish their duties. She further indicated that the necessary preparations have been finalized to distribute written material on customary law and traditions of the society with a view to preserving and bequeathing societal values, besides serving as reference material to present and future generations.
