Kampala — THE scarcity of fuel has persisted in Kampala, according to a survey by The New Vision.

Pump attendants at Petro, Shell, Total, Caltex and Engen filling stations within the city centre yesterday reported petrol shortages. However, some filling stations had petrol.

The price of diesel ranged between shs2,390 and 2,490, while petrol ranged from sh 2,600 and 2,900.

An official at Shell Bugoloobi said: "There is enough diesel but no petrol.

The problem is on the Kenyan side, with issues of Mombasa and the pipeline. We have not received communication from our suppliers but are told that the Government is addressing the issue."

Late last week, energy minister Daudi Migereko said the shortage would persist throughout the festive season.

He said the shortage arose from repairs on the Kenyan oil pipeline and that the Government would negotiate with authorities in Kenya to have depots open for longer hours.
