Kampala — PEOPLE practicing human sacrifice have been told to stop the act.
The Kooki cultural leader, the Kamuswaga Apollo Sansa Kabumbuli II, said it was sad that some people were merciless to an extent of sacrificing their children.
"It should be the parents to protect their children from those hunting them, but it is surprising that some of them have gone ahead to offer them in sacrifice," Kabumbuli said.
Kabumbuli was responding to an appeal made by children from Kooki County, who attended the Christmas party organised by the Kamuswaga on Sunday.
"Your Highness the Kamuswaga, we are fed up of merciless people hunting and sacrificing our colleagues. We fear going to school neither do we want to fetch water," Sandra Asiimwe, 7, of Big U Primary School in Rakai said.
Kabumbuli said no one could become rich out of sacrificing a human being, adding that it was lies that sent people into such acts.
He advised parents to teach their children how to raise alarms when approached by strangers.
Kabumbuli also told parents to warn their children against walking in isolation.
He criticised married people, who kill their spouses, saying there were other ways of solving family wrangles.
He urged parents to cooperate with their children's teachers to improve the quality of education.
"We have a few performing schools in Kooki and without them, our children will fail. It is our duty as stakeholders to uplift our education standards," the Kamuswaga added.
He also urged the children to avoid early marries and sex to prevent catching HIV/Aids.
