Nigeria: Kano Restates Commitment to Shariah

Sokoto — Kano State Government says it would accord Shariah a special place in the conduct of government business.This was one of the resolutions contained in a communique issued on Sunday at the end of the state government's sixth retreat for Executive Council members and Special Advisers.

The communique was signed by Alhaji Faruk Umar, the Secretary of the retreat and a Director in the state's Cabinet Office.

According to the commuique issued in Sokoto, participants reaffirmed their determination to exhibit exemplary leadership at all levels. The communique called on the larger Kano society to continue to imbibe the virtues of hard work and selfless disposition. It underlined the need for synergy and team work to attain higher levels of accomplishments.

The communique advised citizens to identify with the government in its efforts to lay a solid foundation for prosperity.

It reaffirmed government's commitment to the reform process and the determination to accord priority to planning and implementation of programmes and projects . The communique reiterated the need to explore additional measures to sensitise the citizenry to lend tangible, moral and material support for more girls to access education.

It appealed to citizens to extend support to the Shekarau administration in its efforts to foster sustainable economic growth. The communique commended the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar III and Governor Wamakko for their warm reception and hospitality.
