Tunisia: President Decides Measures in Solidarity With the Palestinian People

Tunis — As a token of solidarity with the Palestinian people, in the face of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza strip which has caused hundred of casualties, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has decided on Tuesday the following measures:

-The opening of a postal account as of Wednesday December 31, up to January 3, 2009, so as to gather the donations of citizens in support of the Palestinian people.

-The organization on Saturday January 3, 2009 of a blood donation Day for the victims of the Israeli aggression.

-The sending of an emergency rescue cargo plane loaded with medicine, and basic food commodities in solidarity with the inhabitants of Gaza.

Exceptionally, postal offices will remain open on Thursday January 1, 2009 from 8 am to 6 pm.

The measures were announced following a meeting with the Prime Minister.
