Gambia: Pay Your Taxes - Janjangbureh Chief Urges

Bakary Jam Jawo, the chief of Janjanbureh, has called on his people to pay their rates and taxes on time to enable the council to embark on their numerous sub projects.

Chief Jawo made this statement during his Tobaski message to the people of his district, recently. He reminded them that council use the rates and taxes paid by them to facilitate implementation of projects for the people at the grassroots level.

Bush fire

On bush fires, Chief Jawo urged his community to protect the forest against what has become a frequent occurrence in the area, warning against many other illegal activities prevalent in the dry season. He revealed that during the dry season, the region experiences series of bush fires which destroy the forest. He reminded them that the forest contributes significantly to the socio economic development of the country with the provision of resources and income.

Aliens

Chief Jawo challenged the people to monitor the movement of foreigners coming in to the district, urging them to ensure registration of any body that enters the country through the region with the immigration department.
