Angola: Government Distributes Over 20 Million Tons of Goods in 2008

Luanda — The Angolan government, through the Ministry of Welfare and Social Reintegration, distributed during the year 2008, about 20.833.583 million metric tons of foodstuff and other goods to about 2.0 million citizens, among them victims of calamities in the country, ANGOP has learnt.

This was revealed by the minister of Welfare and Social Reintegration, João Baptista Kussumua, when making a balance of the activities developed by the sector, after receiving yearend greetings from his employees.

According to him, in order to secure the socio-economic reintegration of many people, were distributed 5.799 professional kits for the promotion of income generating projects in the communities, benefiting more than 51.000 citizens.

The minister also informed that over 21.000 disabled people were socially and economically reintegrated in 2008, through the rehabilitation programme based in the community, professional training and micro-credit system.
