Kampala — YOUTH volunteers in Gulu on Monday cleaned the town as part of the activities to mark a four-day youth conference in the district.

Walter Banabas Acire, a youth leader of the Lifeline Ministries, said the exercise was meant to express solidarity with the community.

"We have been doing this annually and will continue that way. We take a day-off to do general cleaning, especially in the main hospital, by washing the toilets and wards," Achire said. "We want to demonstrate God's love to all people as we preach in the churches."

He said as peace returns to the area, the youth should turn to God so that their lives can be completely changed.

He urged them to show a good example to children and respect their parents.

Gulu municipal council speaker Kelly Komakech commended the volunteers, saying enforcing cleanliness was a challenge to the council because of limited resources.
