Governorship candidate of Oyo State All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the April 2007 elections, Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, has accused Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of the state of dedicating his time to merry making and social engagements in 2008, instead of focusing his attention on good governance.

The Oyo State ANPP governorship candidate, however, expressed optimism that Alao-Akala will be shown the way out of the office before the end of the first quarter of 2009.

Ajimobi in a New Year message signed by the Publicity Secretary of ANPP in the state, Bode James, maintained that Alao-Akala has shown clearly that he has no plan for the masses.

He assured people of the state that the mandate stolen by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be retrieved through his petition still pending before the Appeal Court.

Ajimobi, however, added that he and his political party would continue to embrace peace in 2009, no matter the level of provocation, arrogance and deceitful style of the ruling party.

While thanking the people of the state for their patience so far, Ajimobi further maintained that his stand as a believer of the rule of law would soon be vindicated "in the appeal against injustice done to the people of Oyo State in the last general elections."

Ajimobi lamented what he described as the show of shame by the Alao-Akala-led PDP government in the state.

According to him, instead of devoting more time to good governance, Alao-Akala has decided to choose merry-making, social engagement and acceptance of chieftaincy titles as his priorities.
