Angola: Cinema Seeks Better Ways to End Crises

Luanda — National cinematography production is seeking for better ways to end the crises it is facing, in a fight among film-makers, producers and government entities, through the Ministry of Culture, with visible results in the domain of amateur video, Angop has learnt.

With a production considered as null, mainly over the last four/five years, the creators "navigate" across difficult routes to achieve the definite and intended goals.

After years of glory with productions such as "Na cidade vazia", "O heroi" and "Comboio da Canhoca", by Maria João Ganga, Orlando Fortunato and Zezé Gamboa, respectively, the Angolans do not watch national films, with exception to amateurs ones.

With a rich history in matters of prizes, the national films marked an epoch with the conquest of trophies such as the prize of the public of the African Festival of Cinema, in Milan, the special prize of the jury of the international festival of women in Paris, both conquered through "Na Terra Vazia" work.

Without financial resources, national creators are hindered of showing to the world their creative power, that with the two mentioned works have already seen enlisted the country's name with golden hand-writing, due to the prizes won at the international level.
