Nigeria: FG, Canada to Collaborate on Gender Related MDGs

The Federal Government is to partner with Canada in the implementation of a new policy framework on Millennium Development Goals gender related issues.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Salamatu Hussaini, said this in Birnin Kebbi when she declared open a workshop on the proper implementation of the new policy.

The minister, who was represented by Mrs Nkechi Ogba, said the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and MDGs had worked out modalities for the new gender policy.

The minister, who called on the state government to ensure that the new policy was implemented, said it was aimed at enabling equal opportunities for all.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs Hajiya Habiba Umar, said the workshop was for the building of a society that would shun gender discrimination.
