Senate President David Mark has described as shameless the blood shedding that recently took place in Jos, the Plateau State capital, describing it as a place that is yet to know peace if a common local government election could be the basis for killing hundreds of lives.

He spoke at the presentation of staff of office to the newly crowned Chief of Kagoro, Ufuwai Bonat in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State yesterday.

Mark, who also described the incident as unfortunate, urged Nigerians to live peacefully with one another, stressing that the country can never progress in a chaotic atmosphere.

The senate president, who was represented by Senator Saminu Turaki, said the issue of settlers and non-indigenes would be seriously taken into consideration with a view to addressing such matter in the constitutional reforms based on the Jos crisis.

On the state creation which has been the quest of the Southern Kaduna people, he assured the people saying that such request would be considered when the need for state creation arises.

Governor Namadi Sambo, who made the presentation of the staff of office to the chief, said the state also endorsed the candidature of Ufuwai Bonet based on his starling qualities, and promised the people that despite the global financial meltdown, the state has made financial provision for construction of different projects in the area.

The well-attended coronation ceremony had in attendance, ex-military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and his wife, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, Governor of Zamfara, Aliyu Shinkafi and his wife, Emirs of Zaria and Birnin Gwari as well as the Tort Tiv and other distinguished Nigerians.
