South Africa: Amodu to 'Monitor' Bosso

2 January 2009

Super Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu will be keeping a close, if less than active, watch on proceedings at the Flying Eagles camp when he resumes duty in Abuja next week.

Sources close to the coach informed KickOffNigeria.com that Amodu was not only unhappy at reports coming out of the Flying Eagles camp, but also the haphazard nature of the preparations.

"Amodu intends to be around the camp and monitor the goings on around there. He will also offer useful inputs to the coaches, although the final decision on selection and the tactics will ultimately lie with the head coach," a top source told KickOffNigeria.com.

The Under-20s are the next line of succession to the Super Eagles and Amodu is said to be concerned about their prospects in Rwanda.

"If this set of players do not qualify for the World Cup, it will be a disaster for us as the next year is very important for us with regards to the 2010 World Cup."
