Tunis — A Tunisian engineer, Mr Kamel Ayadi, was chosen to head the fourth International Consultative Council tasked with the organisation of the World Engineers Convention (WEC) due be held in Geneva in 2011.
The event which is placed under the aegis of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) will include the organization of 5 technical congresses several forums, including a women's forum, a major technological fair, as well as an international competition to select the best research and innovation project which will receive an international Prize.
Some 5000 participants from all over the world are expected to take part in the event, whose third edition was recently held in Brazil. The WEC takes place every four years, and aims at addressing the main challenges facing engineering in the world today, as well as fostering the training of engineers in developing countries.
Mr Kamel Ayadi who is currently the president of the WFEO, is also a member of Tunisia's Chamber of Advisors. From 2004 to 2006 he served as Secretary of State in the Tunisian government. He is also the author of some 50 academic papers in the sectors of ICT, science and technology, capacity building and education.
