Uganda: Debtor Abandons Car

2 January 2009

Kampala — A loan defaulter recently abandoned his car and sought safety in the bushes, running away from debt collectors.

The defaulter, only identified as Ahamada got a loan with Finance Trust, Iganga branch but disappeared after getting the money and changed his telephone lines.

A hunt for the elusive Ahamada was launched but proved futile for six months. The company had nearly written off the loan until fate re-united the hunter and hunted.

The debt collectors were driving to Mayuge on another hunt for more defaulters when they sighted Ahamada drive past them in the opposite direction.

They immediately turned and a chase ensued on the murram road. When Ahamada realised he was being trailed, he abandoned his car and sped off into the bushes.

The hunters however did not give up easily. They trailed him into the bushes but got lost in the thicket. Ahamada returned several hours later and drove away without delay.
