Zimbabwe: Maneni Releases Debut Album

5 January 2009

Harare — AFTER spending years as a backing vocalist for several gospel divas, gifted songbird Jennifer Maneni has released her debut album.

She might seem a newcomer in the eyes of many, but Jen, as she is affectionately known, boasts of an impressive curriculum vitae having worked with Fungisai Zvakavapano, Mercy Mutsvene and Donna Chibaya.

She has also backed the likes of John "Mr Fantastic" Mutoko, McDonald Kachingwe, Francis Dyoko, Lydia Sibanda and Diana Mabika to record their albums.

At 23, Jen appears destined for the stars and nothing should stop her from realising her dreams.

Blessed with a melodious voice that caresses the ears and mature songwriting skills, the diva is set to make an impact in the gospel genre.

Her debut album Fambai Neni - preaching the eternal message of the second return of Jesus Christ is of superior quality full of anointing lyrics from start to finish.

The album opens with the track Ndoita Sei which urges both believers and non-believers to have faith in the Lord God.

Its opening notes assure one that the album is also endearing.

The follow-up track Handimbomira, which starts on a low tempo before shifting gears towards the end, is yet another engaging and danceable track on the album.

The next three songs --Inondidzimaidza, Ariko and Musandisiye -- preaches Jennifer's desire to stick to the Lord God whom she has decided to follow, she explains.

The other songs you are sure to enjoy on this album are Munouya Rini, Nyasha and Ndichagara Naye. Jen's latest album boasts of solid lyrics, excellent vocals along with outstanding production and musical arrangement.

Born in a family of four - two boys and two girls, Jen was Raised in Highfield, the diva says Rebecca Malope inspired her. She says her passion for music dates back to the time when she was still in primary school.

Jen, who doubles up as a designer, says Fungisai inspires her a lot both musically and in the field of designing. She acknowledged Mr Fantastic for assisting her to record her album and shoot her videos due for release soon.
