Harare — ZIMBABWE Peace Project director and opposition activist Jestina Mukoko, who is accused of recruiting people for banditry training to overthrow the Government, and 15 other suspected MDC-T activists will today be back at the Harare Magistrates' Court where they are expected to make various applications.
The 16 were last Wednesday formally placed on remand by Harare provincial magistrate Mr Mishrod Guvamombe after their challenges against placement on remand were thrown out.
Defence lawyers Mrs Beatrice Mtetwa and Mr Alec Muchadehama separately told The Herald that they would make several applications in court today although they declined to disclose the nature of the applications.
Last Friday, the High Court threw out Mukoko's application for release, but ordered that she be booked out of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison for medical examination and treatment whenever necessary.
The same court agreed with the ministerial certificate by State Security Minister Cde Didymus Mutasa that barred the disclosure of the identities of security agents who held Mukoko before she was handed over to the police.
Mrs Mtetwa yesterday said she unsuccessfully tried to take her client out for treatment over the weekend because prison officers said they had no authority to book her out in the absence of a doctor.
