Kampala — SHUMUK group of companies has offered sh2m to national swimmer Isaac Nakabaale to participate in the Africa Zone IV invitational championship in due in South Africa, January 5-11.
The 1,500 meter freestyle national record holder received a cheque for his expenses from Shumuk Group chief executive officer Mukesh Shukla in Kampala on Friday.
"We are glad to be sponsoring a swimmer with great potential like Isaac and we believe that he will be a success in South Africa," Shukla said.
"Its part of our corporate responsibility to give back to society and we believe that swimming is a good sport that develops the mind and body which keeps one healthy."
Nakabaale is part of the Uganda team due to participate in the competition that will be held in Johannesburg.
Uganda will be represented by 7 boys and 8 girls at the continental meet.
The event has attracted elite swimmers from Swaziland, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Angola, Kenya, Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia.
Nakabaale will be participate in 400 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle, 100 meter freestyle and 4x50 meters relay.
The team of 15 swimmers that is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in two batches includes Jamila Lunkuse and Arnold Kisulo.
