Angola: Education Sector Gains 21 Schools in 2009

Luanda — The education network will be reinforced in this school year with opening of 21 new technical schools in various provinces of the country, in the ambit of expanding the teaching implemented by the Government since 2007.

Among these new schools built and equipped with the support of the Chinese government, include nine polytechnical institutes located in the provinces of Bié, Bengo, Cabinda, Huambo, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Namibe Uíge and Luanda.

In the domain of the administration and services, 11 units will start their activities in the provinces of Bié, Benguela, Huambo, Luanda (with two), Namibe, Moxico, Zaire, Kuando Kubango, Uíge and Cunene, besides a high agrarian institute in the northern Uíge province.

This information was given in Luanda by the Angolan education minister, Burity da Silva during the traditional ceremony of year-end greetings.

Burity da Silva highlighted that the investment in a more specialised training that will allow an adequate insertion of the cadres in the work market, by corresponding with the aims of the country's development.

The academic also said that it will be given greater attention in 2009 to the analysis of the headmasters of schools, aiming at their reclassification and an effective school management.
