Nigeria: Govt Saves Money From Aluminum Roofing Firm - Commissioner

Damaturu — Having regards to the facts that the Yobe State government has embarked on construction of houses in mass, there is the desire for self-reliance on construction materials industry which has been the target of Sen. Mamman Ali's administration in the state.

This was revealed by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barrister Shehu Aliyu, in an exclusive interview with Leadership at the Government House Damaturu over the weekend.

The commissioner further disclosed that various industries had been reinvigorated and new ones were initiated by the present administration to serve government needs on various constructions undergoing in the state, stressing that the industry is now saving the Yobe government the pain of purchasing the needed roofing sheets in all its construction sites to save huge amount of money.

"People now come to Yobe wanting to purchase our home made aluminum roofing sheets which is a productive development. Before the inception of this administration, the existing industries were not functioning'.

Ali revived them and initiated other ones which are yielding positive results."

Aliyu lamented that roofing sheets available in the market today are substandard and that there is need for quality roofing sheets industry which warrant the Yobe government to revive its own to meet standard and to produce the durable roofing sheets it is now manufacturing.

Aliyu further explained that all government buildings constructed by the present administration were roofed with the roofing sheets produced by the government owned roofing sheets industry in Potiskum local government in the state

The commissioner reiterated that Governor Ali and his team were doing all they could within existing laws and procedures to industrialise Yobe State to create more wealth opportunities and employment.

Aliyu also revealed that there are more plans on industrialisation of Yobe State by Sen Mamman Bello Ali's administration which will be unveiled soon.
