Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical consultant, Coach Adegboye Onigbinde, has urged NFF to train those who will be responsible for match technical reports henceforth.
Aside this, he believes that there is the need for NFF to train match analysts, if it hopes to have a formidable technical department.
Onigbinde, FIFA and CAF technical committee member, said these have become inevitable because coaches writing match reports of their matches would be biased.
He said if NFF intends to get quality technical reports of matches involving all the national teams, it must train those who are able to give it what it deserves.
Onigbinde, who have coached the Super Eagles at various times, said a coach will not turn in any report that will indict him, adding that a detailed technical report of any match will involve why a goal was conceded and what could have been done to avert such lapse or lapses.
"A detailed technical report will analyse the performance of each of the players in the team. Their contributions or otherwise to the team and so many other things that the coach may not likely add. It is always better for an independent assessor to do," he said.
He said a detailed technical report will be invaluable to the federation in that it is through such report that the NFF will be able to assess the performance of the team, problems, and solutions, among others.
Onigbinde dismisses the notion that competitions are any form of development, saying, "Competitions are like examinations in schools. It is not an avenue for development."
