Abuja — Some youths under the auspices of Youth for Good Governance in Niger Delta (YOGIND) has commended President Umar Yar'Adua for the creation of the Niger Delta Ministry as well as the appointment of their sons to head the newly created ministry.
YOGIND president, Chigbue Dike said such positive and bold steps must be backed with a strong will to implement it to ensure sustainable development within the region.
Dike was of the opinion that this can only be achieved through transparency and accountability in management of the resources allocated to the ministry in addition to political will by the Federal Government.
"We commend the bold step of Mr. President in creating the Niger Delta Ministry and the subsequent appointment of two of our sons to man the ministry.
"We congratulate Ufot Ekaette and Godswill Orubebe on this well deserved appointment which we hope would transform to good tidings in the region.
"We are more than hopeful that they would perform in this task of building the region due to their track records in governance and nation building."
