Kano — Kano State government has announced the receipt of N19 billion and the disbursement of N11 billion for the months of October and November last year.
This was made known by the state commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Surajo Garba Karaye, (Ciroman Karaye) at the monthly press briefing held recently on the receipt and disbursement of funds during the period under review, while the balance brought forward as at September 30, stood at N1,887,129,448.26. The sum of N3,635,813.35 represents the balance brought forward as at October 31, 2008..
Alhaji Karaye revealed that the statutory allocation for the month of October and November in 2008 stood at N3,171,619,374.40 and N3,043,763,842.42 respectively, adding that excess crude oil share for the period under review stood at N709,746,592.74 and N847,099,430.63 respectively.
The commissioner said Value Added Tax (VAT) for the month of October and November stood at N574,274,912.46and N665,273,216, while internally generated revenue accessed for the period under review stood at N421,204,838.64 and N254,941,374.70 respectively.
He, therefore, pointed out that while deposit withdrawals for the period under review stood at N2,294,015,881.22 and N1,883,747,929.80, miscellaneous receipts for both months are represented as N15,779,427.44 and N26,950,903.94 respectively, saying balance brought forward as at October 31, stood at N3,635,813,637.35.
Meanwhile, on disbursement, he explained that salaries (allied salaries inclusive) gulped N1,364,338,605.53 and N1,313,630,830.69 for the period under review, while recurrent expenditure stood at N1,943,271,266.91 and N2,583,482,997.45 respectively.
He added that capital expenditure stood at N1,490,135,214.83 and N2,768,256,418.10 for both months, while short-term placements for the month of November stood at N800,000,000.
