Enugu — The Catholic Artistes and Entertainers of Nigeria {CAEN}, Enugu Diocese, on Sunday announced plans to partner the Enugu State government in the establishment of a befitting film village.
According to the association, the village, when established, "will not only compete favourably with other tourist centres in the country, but would also be among the wonders of the world ."
Initiator and spiritual director of CAEN, Rev Father Evans Offor, made the disclosure at the "official inauguration of CAEN and award giving ceremony to distinguished personalities and launch of her PRICELESS and LACRIMA at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu ."
Rev Father Offor explained that it was the dream of the association to "actualise a situation where it shall become the Bible on the right hand and the Catholic / Christian Movie on the left, or at the home for the interiorisation of the faith in the demoralised society ."
He noted that the use of home movies with good morals would help the faithful to worship God in spirit, assuring that CAEN was out to be firm, constant and objective in the formation and association of good films and musicals that contain the truth of Christian faith.
"It will not be an overstatement to say that Enugu, the Coal City State is the intended and culturisation of modern home movies, having housed and midwifed great artistes like Pete Edochie, MAMA G, among others.
The dream of CAEN, he stated further, "is to become the best all over the world as it gathers all men and women of the globe to worship the Lord in truth, fairness and justice".
In his brief address, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, the Most Rev Dr Anthony Gbuji said there was need to use movies and good cultural practices to preach the word of God.
