After achieving his dream of playing in Europe last season, former Kaizer Chiefs and Thanda Royal Zulu striker Serge Djiehoua is left with one wish now and that is to play for the Ivory Coast national team.
Djiehoua took Turkey by storm last year after signing for Antalyaspor when, besides making a big contribution in helping his club win games, he also put his name on the score sheet six times after playing 12 League games.
Speaking to KickOff.com from Turkey last night, 'Mavusane' as Djiehoua is popularly known among his fans, says he regards his move to Turkey as the best ever thing to happen in his soccer career and adds that he is determined to make his name in Europe.
"You can ask most professional players in Africa and they will tell you that their dream is to play in Europe. And when you get opportunity to play there, you begin to dream bigger things. I am glad that God granted me the opportunity to achieve my dream in life.
"I had a good start in Turkey last year, but there is still more to be done in terms of scoring goals for my team. I played 12 League games and two Cup games and I feel six goals are not good enough to justify my stay in Turkey.
"I have to keep working hard because my record here will give me a ticket to play for the national team in Ivory Coast," says Djiehoua, adding that he sometimes does miss his former teammates at Thanda.
"South Africa is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I am happy that I had opportunity to live there. I am still in touch with my friends in South Africa and talk lot to Katlego Loke and Thabang Gumede at Thanda."
