Nigeria: We Want to Set a Record- Edward

4 January 2009

Iyowuna Edward says Dolphins want to set a Nigerian league record by going the whole season unfeated.

No club in Nigerian football history has ever ended a league season without defeat but Edward believes that Dolphins can be the first to do so.

Dolphins have already gone nine matches unbeaten in the league after the same number of games and have a home game on Sunday against Ila LGA at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium.

"At the start of the season we talked to ourselves on what we wanted to do," Edward said."The coaches wanted five matches unbeaten but the players said we could do ten matches and we made up our minds to go ten unbeaten and we are happy we are doing it so far."

Edward said he knows it will be difficult to go all the way unbeaten in the Nigerian league but they will give it their best shot."We have sacrificed a lot and we know we cannot rest until we get to the Premier League and also see how many matches we go unbeaten," Edward said.
