Sokoto State Government has spent N189 million on the rehabilitation of three secondary schools in the state.
The state's Commissioner for Science and Technical Education, Alhaji Nasiru Aliyu, said the schools are: Government Girls' Commercial Secondary School, Tambuwal, Government Girls College, Sokoto and Government Science Secondary School, Yabo.
The Commissioner said the rehabilitation had created a "very conducive atmosphere for learning".
He said government had entered into a working arrangement with private sponsors to provide modern learning materials for the promotion of Science and Technical Education.
Aliyu challenged teachers to support government's gesture by dedicating themselves to their duties.
He said government had taken steps to retrain the teachers to enable them to acquire the requisite knowledge for the task ahead.
"We shall continue to make teachers' welfare a priority to motivate them toward excellence," he said.
