Abuja — Newly appointed minister of environment Mr. John Odeh, has conducted an environmental check-up exercise at the ministry's headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja.
Odeh said: "The issue of environment has become a global one because of the challenges that we are now facing in our environment, ranging from desertification, gully erosion issues of oil spillage in the Niger Delta. It has now thought us lessons to rekindle our drive towards providing a healthy environment. This can be achieved through collaborative efforts with all stakeholders. It is in that regard that we decided to have a look at our immediate environment, and also provide solutions to some of the challenges we found around ourselves. We are trying to see how we can make both our environment and offices clean."
The minister who was conducted around the ministry by the permanent secretary, Mr. Otaki Oyigbenu, harped on the need for a clean environment and stressed the need for the ministry to wear a new look.
