South Africa: Everything Under Control - Sundowns

5 January 2009

Mamelodi Sundowns club communication manager Mahlatse Mphahlele says everything is under control at Chloorkop and they are ready to give their supporters something to cheer about in the beginning of the New Year by beating Amakhosi in Johannesburg on Sunday.

With exception of Mbulelo Mabizela, who is still missing at Sundowns, Mphahlele said all the players are back at training.

"It is still the same issue with Mabizela; he is still not here," said Mphahlele, who did want to commit himself on media speculation that the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain has already been shown the door at Chloorkop.

"It has only been mentioned in the media; from our side we haven't released anything official with regard to Mabizela's future at Sundowns, except to say that he is still missing."

"As far as Sundowns are concerned, we are not ready to focus on that issue but on the job at hand and that is to return back to our winning ways."

Mabizela is currently out on bail of R500 after appearing in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court last month on a charge of drunk driving, alternatively on a charge of reckless and negligent driving.

The case, which stems from the former Bafana Bafana player's arrest in the Natal capital in mid-December, has been postponed, to January 21.
