Angola: Country Cup Competition Draft Presented

5 January 2009

Luanda — The board of the Angolan Académica Clube de Luanda (ACL) club presented last Saturday evening in Luanda to the Angolan Roller-Skate Hockey Federation its draft project on how the Angolan League Cup should be disputed.

The document was handed over to the chairman of the mentioned federation, Carlos Alberto Jaime, during a ceremony that aimed at paying homage to ACL's junior males team, who conquered the last national championship.

According to that club's proposal the competition should be disputed in the two-leg rounds system, to qualify the four best ranked who will compete the semi-finals in two legs, qualifying the two best teams for a one-game final.

The main objective is to expand the competition with a greater number of participating provinces, increasing the number of games, thus boosting the competitive rhythm of the teams in the provinces, which do not have a sportive season similar to that of Luanda.

Still concerning to changes, cards, sanctions and punishments implemented in a game should have implications in the matches of other official competitions (super-cup, opening tournament, national and provincial championship).

According to the document, this form of competition will contribute so that the teams, particularly those which are not from Luanda, have a carefully planned and more intensive training programme, as they will have more motivational games.
