The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has sent a message of condolences to the South African Football Association following the tragic death of Reuben Mahlalela, Safa's former vice-president on Saturday morning.
In a statement released by LeFA President, Advocate Salemane Phafane KC on Monday, the Lesotho football governing body expressed shock at the death of Mahlalela whom Phafane said was an astute football administrator.
"We have known him as a shrewd football administrator, not only in the period leading to the granting of the rights to host the 2010 Fifa World Cup by the Republic of South Africa, but throughout his life in football."
Phafane further said that Mahlalela will be remembered for his diligence and meticulous attention to detail when addressing matters of football.
"Over the years we have known him to be a true leader; his leadership characters were witnessed in the many times that he led Bafana Bafana in their trips abroad and in the continental competitions.
"Mahlalela shall be truly missed, more so for his latest contribution in the Local Organising Committee of the 2010 Fifa World Cup," Phafane added.
Mahlalela did not live to see the Fifa 2010 World Cup towards which he worked tirelessly as Safa vice-president and more recently as a venue volunteer coordinator for the Organising Committee in the 2010 Fifa World Cup host venue of Nelspruit.
