Kano Pillars Football Club has signed eight additional players from Ghana, Cameroun, Egypt, Lobi Stars of Makurdi and Kaduna United, just as the players are expected to jet out of the country for a training tour to South Africa .
Chairman of the team, Alhaji Tukur Muhammad Babangida said that the training tour is part of the club management strate-gies ahead of the CAF Cham-pions League encounters sche-duled for January 31 in Kano against a Chadian clubside.
Babangida said that arrange-ments are in the pipeline by the club management to see that the team play some friendly mat-ches outside the country, as part of their efforts to test the strength of the team before the club, a first match against a Cha-dian clubside in the preliminary stage of CAF Champions Lea-gue.
He said that they have already registered 26 players for the Champions League, adding that more players would be recruited gradually until a formidable team for both league and Champions League is lined up.
Alhaji Babangida stated that with the performance of the club so far in the Nigerian league, the team is gradually gaining mo-mentum, assuring that with more commitment and determination the team is poised for triumph.
He expressed optimism that with the calibre of the players recruited as well as the commit-ment and determination of the management, the club will not disappoint Nigerians in the Champions League.
"You could recall that we played seven matches in the Nigerian league without losing a single match, this is an indi-cation that the club is gradually doing well and we will continue to do our best," he said.
He however called on the people of the state to continue to assist the club with prayers as part of their support and con-tribution to ensure its success both in the Nigerian League and CAF Champions League.
Alhaji Babangida said that the club management is enjo-ying a good working relation-ship with the Continental Com-mittee led by Alhaji Ibrahim Ga-ladima, adding that all hands are on deck to ensure the success of the team.
Alhaji Babangida then com-mended the state government for its unflinching support to the club and pledged that they will continue to do their best in order to maintain the impressive ou-ting of the team.
