The Minister of Power, Dr. Rilwan Olanrewaju Babalola has challenged staff of the Ministry to re-double their effort in order to takes the power sector to the next level. "Together we have to succeed in providing adequate and reliable power supply to the Nation". The Minister gave this challenge during his inaugural meeting with members of staff last week in Abuja.
According to him, the importance of the catalytic effect of electricity to the achievement of the seven point agenda and vision 2020 of this Administration, cannot be over emphasized.
The Minister called for team spirit, hard work and commitment "serving in a key Ministry as power is a priviledge, a clarion call for us all to make a difference, to serve, by providing electricity to a point where supply equates demand," he further stressed.
Dr. Babalola disclosed that transparency, open door policy, staff welfare, human capital development among others will form the hallmark of his leadership style.
Minister of State for Power, Arc. Nuhu Somo Wya, while addressing the staff also sought their cooperation and support. "You are all very important in achieving the task ahead, we are here to succeed. We place great premium on your cooperation, support, as well as human capital development". he further stated.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Aliyu, welcomed the Ministers and pledged the Ministry's support and commitment to the cardinal objective of providing electricity to the teeming Nigerian populace.
Similarly, in an interactive session members of staff, implored the Ministers to give issues of staff welfare, such as health, training, conducive working environment, office accommodation, posting, promotion, and adequate manpower utmost priority, while promising to give their best.
It would be recalled that President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua recently created the new Ministry of Power as an indication of the great premium the present Administration places on the power sector.
