Orphanage Football Club, Karu, Thursday organized a New Year party for children of the Abuja Children's Home, Karu, Abuja.
The party which began at 3 pm was filled with fun as children from the home danced and were treated to rib-cracking jokes by a comedian, called the Observer.
In his speech at the occasion, the club's President, Godwin Bamigboye Abadaki singled out the philanthropic gesture of one Habiba Yakubu, an internal auditor with the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara Command, whom he said contributed to the success of the event.
He also commended the home's administrator for his caring attitude towards the children that live their.
"Last two years, I lost my wife and was left with four children to cater for," the president disclosed.
According to him, taken care of four children single handily has not been easy for him, how much more the over 70 children in the children's home that the administrator is looking after.
The president then called on philanthropists and corporate organizations to donate generously to the home.
Responding to the speech, the home's Administrator, Alhaji Suleiman S. Abubakar, thanked members of the football club for making the children of the home happy.
He urged them to continue to make children in the home happy, adding that the football training with children in the home was commendable.
Highlights of the event were a life musical show by Onyenibeji Kingsley Echi (alias Bestic) and a quiz competition that was won by Master Christian.
Prizes were also awarded to the winners of the dancing competitions.
