Harare — Poet Mbizo Chirasha has written an anthology in praise of Dr Gideon Gono, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
Mbizo, who has performed at international festivals and several local state functions, said his collection of poems was inspired by Dr Gono's determination to turnaround the country's economy.
"Dr Gono's heroic attributes require a thundering applause and tribute from poets and writers. This is how I came up with the idea to write the poem as a tribute to him and his tireless work," Mbizvo said.
One of the poems titled Amazing Gono speaks about the measures Dr Gono took in resuscitating the banking sector, his fight against illegal sanctions and shortages of food as well as cash.
"He has done everything in almost every sector, for instance, the cholera outbreak, social rehabilitation of communities through Baccossi and seed distribution and the mechanisation programme," he said. The poems, he said, would help inspire other people including the leadership to work for the good of the nation.
