Kampala — THE national cricket team has made a last minute move and travelled to Kenya for a series of friendly matches with Kenyan side Afripals, who failed to make it to Kampala at the last hour.

The Kenyans had been expected to arrive in the country on Thursday and test the national team ahead of the trip for the Division 3 World Cricket League that starts January 24 in Argentina. The top two at the tournament will qualify for the World Cup qualifiers in South Africa in April.

According to the Uganda Cricket Association administrative officer Allan Ssematimba, a decision had to be made as fast as possible and they agreed to travel to Kenya instead.

"There will be no change in the team. It's the final team that we selected to travel to Argentina that will travel for the trials," he said. The team will be led by national coach South African Mohammed Barney Ebrahim.

The Ugandans will after the trials come back before departing for Argentina on January 19 for a series of international friendly matches before the competition.
