Nigeria: Sokoto Commissioner of Works Resigns

Sokoto — Sokoto Commissioner of Works, Alhaji Shehu Hamzat voluntarily resigned his appointment on health ground yesterday. The commissioner has been unwell for quite sometimes now which made him very un-active in his capacity as a commissioner.

A dependable source revealed to LEADERSHIP that he was flew to Egypt during the Ramadan period for medication.

Commenting on the resignation, Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko hailed the contributions and exemplary conduct of the out-going commissioner and thus appointed him his Senior Special Adviser.

He explained that the new appointment would enable the state government to continue to tap his wealth of experience and resilience.

The commissioner, according to a statement signed by the Special Assistant to Governor Wamakko, Alhaji Sani Umar has accepted to serve in that capacity, a task that is less demanding and suitable to his present health condition.
