Abeokuta — Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniels, has disclosed that the continued refusal of the Federal Government to pay the state government about N5 billion debt being money spent by the state government on rehabilitation of Federal Government roads within the state would not deter him from constructing more of such roads.

Daniel, in a statement by his Information Officer, Mr. Ayokunle Ewuoso, stated this during his on the spot assessment of the Sagamu- Ogijo Road which is being constructed by the Daniels administration.

According to the governor, "The Federal Government is owing Ogun State N 5billion in account of some of the federal roads constructed by Ogun State government, but we can't fold our arms and allow commuters to suffer, so we have to accept the challenges and do what we have to do. We are only hoping that the Federal Government would come to our aid, this is their job and responsibility".

He stated that his administration cannot afford to neglect the Sagamu - Ogijo Road because of its importance to the economy of the state government, adding that government had decided to construct the road with each side having 3 lanes.

"Sometime in the past, this road became so bad and I think there was a contractor from FERMA who had a job to do and did not do it, so much so that tankers plying the road were falling, the way that we have decided to do this road is quite different, it is really heavy, it is a big challenge and we are determined that we must do it."
