Determined to find the killers of Pa Jacob Odivwri Edjesa, the family rose from a meeting over the weekend, at Emonu Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, announcing a reward of N1 million to any person or group of persons who can supply relevant information that can lead to the arrest of the killers of the octogenarian.
The meeting which was attended by all the children, family members and even some pressure groups in the state, was the first enlarged forum to review the incident of the murder.
Pa Odivwri, 82, father of Eddy Odivwri of THISDAY Newspapers, was kidnapped from his residence on December 16 last year and his corpse found five days later within the precinct of his neighbourhood.
At the meeting last Saturday, Chief Lucky Arhere announced on behalf of the family, the reward for any body who can supply vital information that can result in the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.
Chief Arhere said all such information could be supplied to any police station, or to the family members, assuring that " we will be sure to protect the identity, background or image of anybody who gives such vital information."
He noted that " we are verily interested in assisting the Police and all security operatives in fishing out the killers of our family head and we will go to any legitimate length in achieving this.
And that is why we have tried to raise the N1 million reward for whoever that can assist us in finding the killers" adding that "until this is done, the feeling of insecurity will pervade in our various communities."
Additionally, the traditional ruler of the community, Imiko Amaise, the Okpara of Emonu Orogun, also ordered all the women in the communities to strip naked at night, a traditional rite believed to accelerate the unearthing of the crime.
Womenfolk of the community had thus stripped "in pursuit of our own effort in bringing the culprits to book as soon as possible."
