Abuja — A Minna-based social critic and human rights activist, Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo, has condemned a statement credited to Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, when he accused General Ibrahim Babangida of destroying Nigeria's politics.

Lamido had while addressing a delegation from Hadejia who paid him a visit recently, accused Babangida of crippling Nigeria's politics by diverting politicians from the true political ethics to "politics of dribbling and hypocrisy."

Kolo described the statement as unjust and a distortion of historical facts, adding that posterity will forever accord Babangida his rightful place in the history of Nigeria. "Sule Lamido must be a poor student of history to have forgotten so soon how Gen. Babangdia transformed the political and economic landscape of our dear nation. This country, no doubt, recorded substantial and unequalled economic and political progress during the regimes of Gen. Babangida and Abdulsalam in all spheres, including human rights and foreign policy record. No cheap blackmail or propaganda can obliterate this fact," Nma Kolo stated.

He called on Governor Sule Lamido to imbibe the gallant patriotism and selfless service of the IBB-era in order to properly govern his state, instead of propagating falsehood and cheap lies.
