Jos — The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on the Jos crisis has said it would invite military and police to testify before it on their role in the crisis.
Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Isah Idris who spoke to journalists yesterday at the HBC Resort venue of its public sitting said the military and the police would be required to shed light on the alleged use of military and police fatigues during the mayhem.
He said the committee would also like to see the mercenaries allegedly imported from outside the country in trying to get to the bottom of the matter. He assured the people of the state of the integrity of members of the committee dismissing fears from certain quarters that the committee may not be fair.
The chairman said the committee chose the resort which is located in Jos South Local Government area which it considered neutral to give everyone a fair opportunity to present his or her case. He said the committee would receive memoranda till Saturday before returning to Abuja to write its report.
A coalition of Plateau Youth groups had last weekend expressed reservations about the preponderance of Muslims in the committee which it felt could affect the committee's objectivity but the members at yesterday's sitting assured all that they would be impartial in their assignment.
