Abuja — NEWLY promoted officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces have been urged to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation. They are to show more commitments to their respective forces as well as use their new rank for the development of humanity.

Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NFRC), Oshodi, Air Commodore Ayuba Buhari who gave the charge during the decoration of the officers weekend in Lagos said, "To whom much is given, much is expected."

The decorated officers were Commodore Umar Kulu Ahmed of the Nigerian Navy, Colonel Tajudeen Olaniyi of the Nigerian Army, Lt. Colonel Christy Akabude of the Nigerian Army, Commodore Mohammed Adbullahi of the Nigerian Navy and Wing Commander Loveday Waroboko of the Nigerian Air Force.

Continuing, Air Commodore Buhari said the mere fact that the officers we recommended alongside others who were adjudged ripe for promotion to a higher rank was a pointer that the Armed Force and the Nigerian nation desire more of their services.

He said: "Let me use this opportunity to remind you that the journey your are on did not begin today. Some of those whom you started this race together have fallen by the way side for one reason or the other. But here we are today celebrating you. That you are counted among those that deserved to be honoured with this promotion showed that the federal government and the people whom you serve recognises your services.

Promotions if you ask me, comes with new challenges; challenges will come from the society, from your immediate homestead, but it is left to you to prove that you are worth the salt. Like I said earlier, to whom much is given, much is expected.

The society is watching, your family is watching and the Armed Forces which you belong is watching too."

Responding on behalf of the decorated officers, Umar Kulu Ahmed said promotions comes from God adding that human beings were just tools used to actualize it. He said the fact that they were counted worthy for the new rank showed that they were being prepared for greater tasks assuring that they would not let the nation down.
